i <3 painting my nails (version 1)
(passion)
i just love painting my nails!
website as mirror/portal
(structure)
during high school, i would stare at myself using my dimmed laptop screen when i was bored in class. i was fascinated by how full of depth it was when looking at the things behind me, through the screen. the screen pulled me in, it was like looking through a portal. i would snap out of this trance when i directed my attention to a smudge on the screen, or when a notification caused the brightness of the screen to go up a tiny bit.
so this is a website as a mirror/portal (or a screen as a mirror? but there isnt a web without the screen. so maybe a website as a vessel for a screen as a mirror???). exploring bringing “true” reality into a web space and getting lost in the web/screen :)

girldiary.net
(control)
this website was part of my core III studio project exploring the narrative of girls online and the conditioning of girlhood. it contains the excerpts i pulled from my research, and an opportunity for people to submit their own words which will be added to the website. pressing on the exccerpts takes you directly to the source.
the opening dialog remains in a constant position, while the dialogs that appear after pressing on my project names can be resized and moved around for a better view

my portfolio! not a "professional" one but one just for fun, a place where i can see the things i've made all on one page! in my room irl, i dont like putting things in drawers or hiding them away (the "normal" way to organize). everything ive made, every card ive been given, and all of the random ephemera ive collected is displayed on a shelf or on my wall. so this is my work curated and displayed on a digital wall.
reading is so good
